RIP Ronnie James Dio, 67

Ronnie James Dio, who replaced Ozzy Osbourne in Black Sabbath and later piloted the bands Heaven & Hell and Dio, died this morning of stomach cancer at age 67.

RIP, Dio.  Not a personal fave (I saw him with Heaven and Hell a couple years ago, and found him beyond irritating), but I respect his place in the rock world.

That is a great piece --Morford can bring it when he's being genuine and not just on cruise control (which he often seems to be). And I too was not a big Dio fan -- he is, for me, in the category of guys-with-a-lot-to-answer-for, in that (like Eddie Vedder) there are far too many awful clones of him fronting equally awful bands. Not his fault, exactly, but you know what I mean.
