RIP Edward Woodward
« on: November 16, 2009, 07:47:03 AM »
Best-known to Americans as The Equalizer, the actor was also in the films Breaker Morant and the original Wicker Man (check it out sometime -- far better than the horrid remake with Nic Cage).

Oh no! The Wicker Man finally meets up w the Equalizer.. or is it vice versa?

I use to love the Equalizer.  It was being produced when I lived in NYC, back in the mid to late 80s  (I get a kick out of seeing places I know portrayed on film and tv).  But I rented a few eps recently and it was pretty bad on second look.  Cheesy, some bad acting and production.  But awesome 80s hair and fashions, and the theme song by Stewart Copeland is pretty good.  Back then, I ran into a dude who worked on the show, and he said Edward was kind of a jerk, and he gave the crew crappy retractable ball point pens that said "Edward Woodward" on them as Christmas gifts!  I had a girlfriend who worked at CBS, and she gave me an Equalizer mug which I cherished until the handle broke.

Wicker Man should be seen, too. Cult fave.  Also some interesting tracks on the sdtk.

Just curious, why's this thread locked?

ETA: I didn't realize I had the permission to unlock this thread--d'oh! Anyway, it should be open for free comment from here on.

for some reason the other thread about British actor Edward Woodward's death is "locked" --  maybe Geoff can unlock?  or perhaps urth, who seems to be the moderator.

Here's to you, Mr Woodward!
