This guy was one of the most recognizable character actors of the last 40 yrs.  He's on my Love, American Style Season 1 DVD.  I also  think he was in one of those "I can't believe I ate the whoooole thing" ads for Alka Seltzer back in the day, but I haven't found it yet.  Here he is in a memorable clip from Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Sex:
