Find something to feel patriotic about.  I'm channeling my patriotism into some camping enjoyment of the Sierra National Forest.  Might sneak down to Sequoia for a half day, in which case I'll feel patriotic about National Forests AND National Parks.

Not about our politicians tho.

I'll be spending the weekend:

(1) Playing in a charity softball tournament, "Playing For Life";

(2) Covering that same tournament for Outsports.com (my first foray into sports journalism, which hopefully won't be my last);

(3) Transcribing my interview with Robert McChesney and turning it into a 600-word Q&A article;

(4) Reviewing the work of 8 indie artists for StarPolish.com; and

(5) Catching up on bill payments.

Not a "relaxing" weekend, but I plan to make up for it by taking parts of Thursday and Friday off to visit a paramour in New Haven.

Enjoy the long weekend, gang! Like Rod, I'm off til Wednesday, but unlike him, I'm stayin' put at home for most of the weekend. Be careful, and watch out for falling objects!

Have fun!  We played a double header last night.  Won both games and I hit a home run!  Still on the homer high.  It has been a while -- I was thinking triple all the way.  (No fences -- you gotta hit it past everyone and run.  I was never fast, and now I'm old, too.)

A bit sore today.  But as Nolan Ryan points out, that's what Advil are for.

Yeah, today, I had to truck some basses down to Kinko's/FedEx  today, and thought I had reached the last step on the stairway, but no, I hadn't.  I ended up falling down in the lobby, hitting my knees.  Nothing broken, but I doubt I'll be hitting any home runs this weekend!
