My great CD coup
« on: May 08, 2005, 06:44:50 PM »
In my apartment building, there's a coffee table in the lobby that tenants use as a community give-n-take: on any given day, you may find books, housewares, appliances or any stripe of bizarre curio.  This afternoon, I hit the jackpot: someone had just left on that table a huge CD collection (discs only; no cases or liner notes).  Here's what I came away with:

Beatles, "Anthology" - discs 1 and 2 (demo versions of various songs)
David Bowie, "Hunky Dory"
David Bowie, "Low" (I don't like it except for "Sound and Vision" and "Be My Wife," I'm afraid)
David Bowie, "Earthling"
Prince, "The Hits" - discs 1 and 2
Rolling Stones, "Jump Back: Best of, '71-'93"
Rolling Stones, "Hot Rocks 2"
Bruce Springsteen, "Piece de Resistance" (a live bootleg?) - disc 2
Bruce, "18 Tracks"
Bruce, "Greetings from Asbury Park, NJ"
Bruce, "The River"
Bruce, "Born in the USA"
Bruce, "Lucky Town" (not the other disc from the same time, tho)
Bruce, "Philadelphia Nights" (a live bootleg?)
Spencer Davis Group, "Best Of" (just grabbed it for "I'm a Man")
Hall & Oates, "Our Kind of Soul" (hey, I was curious)
Counting Crows, "August and Everything After"
Richie Havens, "Sings Beatles and Dylan"
Pulp, "This Is Hardcore"
Coldplay, "A Rush of Blood to the Head"
The Stooges, "Fun House" (I doubt I'll like it, but I feel I should at least have some exposure to them at long last)
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”
