I can't possibly understand how Badfinger could win in a set like that.

I assume you liked Diving bell/Butterfly?  That actor should play Roman Polanski in a biopic.

Yes, I found it quite...well, imaginative. And full of beautiful ladies! Spot on about the Polanski, you are!

catching up on the posts I missed, guy's name is Julian Schnable, right?  Rather German name for a prominent French actor.  He was very good in Munich, too.

No - Julian Schnable is a director. This guy's name is Mathieu something. Who was he in Munich? I don't remember. Oh, I suppose I can go look it up...wait, was he the bomb guy who committed suicide?

Schnabel was the director. The actor is Mathieu Amalric. He was also the villain in the recent Bond flick and was in A Christmas Tale with Catherine Deneuve (which i highly recommend to the princess).

3/11/09 - Midweek!  A ten tune trip to...1970!!!

   1.  Buddy Miles - Them Changes (vinyl!)
   2.  Badfinger - Come and Get it (BEST OF SET!!)
   3.  The Who - Shakin' All Over
   4.  Guess Who - No Time
   5.  The Tee Set - My Belle Amie
   6.  Crow - Cottage Cheese (vinyl!)
   7.  Simon & Garfunkel - El Condor Pasa
   8.  Fleetwood Mac - The Green Manalishi (With the Two Prong Crown)
   9.  George Baker Selection - Little Green Bag
 10.  CCR - Lookin' Out My Back Door

BONUS TRACK:  George Harrison - My Sweet Lord

Methinks this was our "old" year of the week; I'm guessing a late-'80s set tomorrow (tho' I'd love to be wrong) and presumably HFHs on Friday.

His character Louis was the contact that Avner (Eric Bana) used to get information from "The Family", which was headed by Michael Lonsdale, himself a former bond villain.  And for more James Bond connections, don't forget that Daniel Craig was on Avner's team - he was the South African Jew & only other team member to survive.  And then the female assassin in Munich was also in The Diving Bell & The Butterfly.  She knocked of Cieran Hinds' character, and he has become absolutley ubiquitous since then.  So lots of the cast of Munich have gone on to bigger & better things.  Except Eric Bana.

Had to check if my last statement is true, and guess what?  Eric Bana is the bad guy in the new Star Trek movie.

And Simon Pegg is Scotty (!)
John Cho (Harold of Harold & Kumar fame) is Sulu
Karl Urban (Eomer in LotR, the Russian killer in Bourne Supremacy) is Bones

and...wait for it...Wynona Ryder is Amanda Grayson.

It just isn't 1970 until Dave goes Dutch.
I always get a kick out of that cheezy song.  There's a very goofy video for it too, with the band in a huge scaffold, a la Hollywood Squares.

C'est bon!  Merci, merci.
