Someone set their recorders on STUN tonight; this one was a set for the ages.

Throw in the new & different Olympic Hockey & Lennon assassination clips.  I especially was glad to hear a hockey clip that didn't end with Al Michaels.

VHM for "Gimme the Night".  A stunning set for 1980.
And a George Benson/John Lennon connection; released shortly after "Abbey Road", Benson's jazzy covers of Abbey Road tunes. I still have this LP:

it's no McLemore Avenue, to tie things up with an Isaac Hayes (well, Stax, anyway) connection:

From when Benson was known only as a pretty hot jazz guitarist, long before Breezin' turned him into a vocal sensation.
Let's get right to it.

HM for Althea, one of my favorite down-tempo Dead songs.
I broke the law to make a cell phone call from the car to BOS Althea!

Then there's this 1980 item in today's news.  Rot in prison, loser:
Lennon's killer denied parole for 5th time

While I agree with the sentiment, I'm amused by Yoko's argument that she wants to deny him parole because he's "safer" in prison ('cause another disgruntled Lennon fan might kill Chapman in revenge). She's a slick operator, that Ono.

1980: the last time America cared about hockey.

WTF is this pow-a-poom-poom thing? Temptations?

ETA:  oh, yes! "Power". I've heard this maybe once before. BOS2 for bustoutyness alone.

Well it was the last time I cared about hockey.
