The astute listener will note that those descending low piano notes at the coda of HCTRDFA showed up again a few years later on the coda of Kiss's "Shout It Out Loud."

Speaking of whom, I had occasion to watch a bit of Gene Simmons ridiculous reality-TV offering last night. I was amazed at what a nebbishy schlemiel the God of Thunder is in real life. He seems like the real-life version of Billy Crystal's character in Mr. Wonderful. His kids however are a scream. Both have no delusions about their dad, and break his balls every chance they get.
Let's get right to it.

have to give a VHM to "Walk Away", always like Dale Peters bass work.

One more BOS to "Draggin' the Line".

I got my fill of that show three months ago, when I was hired to write a 60-question quiz about the show for the A&E network's website.  I spent a weekend watching the entire first season almost nonstop.  Gene seems to be entirely in on the joke of making himself a reality-TV "character," and I don't know if that's a good or bad thing.  The real Gene is impenetrable.  And yeah, Nick and Sophie are probably the best-adjusted Hollywood kids out there.

What the over/under on dupes from Rob's set earlier this morning?

Stephen Stills - Marianne
Marvin Gaye - Mercy, Mercy Me
Elton John - Amoreena
Freda Payne - Bring The Boys Home
Allman Brothers Band - Statesboro Blues
Joni Mitchell - Carey
5 Man Electrical Band - Signs
Who - Behind Blue Eyes
Sly & The Family Stone - Family Affair
Cat Stevens - If You Want to Sing Out Sing Out

Being as we have one already, I'm going to say two, rich vein of material that 1971 tends to be. But I expect to have artist duplication on at least two others as well.

Oh, and a strong BOS to the Faces, Stay With Me.

So the actual total was one and one, but the Fortunes song filled the slot of the 5-Man Electrical Band.

And now Dave is playing Bargain (anoher tune off Who's Next) just before Annalisa takes over.
Let's get right to it.

Man, was that 7-11 commercial R-rated or what?

Apparently Annalisa thinks so--she's using it for the bonuz quiz question.

Who was that announcer anyway? Sounded kinda like a more laid-back version of Orson Welles.
Let's get right to it.

BOS2: Here comes that Four Seasons feeling again!

ETA: I actually thought this was them for several years.

Mike really is gonna be pissed.

Some really fine nuggets popping up so far.

I do love that Fortunes tune, and never tire of pointing out ut's influence on "Cruel to Be Kind".  I look forward to 10pm.  BTW urth, today is the 27th.

Indeed it is--thanks for the catch. Mark was the one who started the thread, but none of the rest of us caught it either. I used my moderator superpowers to make things right again.
Let's get right to it.
