Gaz & Geoff in particular should know some of these:

Sly Stone & David Cronenberg, 62
Phil Lesh, 65
Mike Love, 64
Bret Michaels, 43 (from Pittsburgh, Gaz)
Judd Hirsch & Jimmy Swaggert, 70
Ruth Bader Ginsburg, 72
Mark McGrath, 37
Lawrence Tierney (the original Dillinger, but best known now as Elaine's scary father on Seinfeld & Joe Cabot from Reservoir Dogs)
Rockwell, 41
Terence Trent D'Arby, 44
Dee Snider, 50
Harold Baines (one of the great b-ball players turned analysts), Fabio & Renny Harlin (who now looks like Fabio), all 46
Mary Carillo (THE best sports analyst anywhere, bar none), 48
Ry Cooder, 58
and one of my favorite B-movie actors - Craig Body Double Wasson

It's also today that H.P. Lovecraft & Dr. Spock died.

hmmm....where were you during the australian open? i wanted to reach through the telly and strangle her for her string of bad jokes, the worst of which led her to create a new verb, "canuking" (to describe a canadian canoeing champion).

Revived for the impressive list.  Adding to it the mother of my friend Eddie.

TANC. I just saw him last weekend at Village Music. (I didn't just run into him, he was doing a signing for his new album, My Name's Buddy.) If I'd known, I'd have wished him an early birthday. I was impressed by the turnout though. I arrived early and he was already set up and signing stuff. I queued up and got my stuff inscribed, then hung around to watch and do some shopping (found a copy of the long out-of-print and never on CD Workshop by NRBQ for a mere $25). By the time 2pm rolled around (when it was scheduled to begin) the line wrapped around the aisles of the store, and there was another line out the door and down the block to get to the register just to buy his album--I'd say there must have been a couple hundred people there, easy.
Let's get right to it.

Dave mentioned this the other day -- apparently Elvis Costello is due for an in-store appearance there very soon.
