'She checked in Monday at 8 p.m. as a guest. She was due to check out tomorrow,' said Danielle Giordaano, a spokeswoman for the hotel."

That was almost to the word the immediate reaction of my Voice colleague Ward.  I should have thought of that.  We'll give it 7 to 1 odds.

Meantime, Gawker has the last word on this for now:

A commentator on CNN said a few hours after her death that "This is certainly an unexpected and very tragic turn of events for Anna Nicole Smith." Unfortunately, that was both true and also not in any sense accurate.
