Beat me to it.  Proof once again that Scientologists are bonkers.

So, will they find someone to imitate his voice? or kill off Chef? Too bad Barry White (their orig choice for Chef; he turned it down) is dead.  A few years ago the woman who did Mrs Broflofsky (among other voices) died, and they found someone who sounded exactly like her.

Given the comments by Parker & Stone I'd say Chef's due for a less-than-heroic send-off.

LOL!   I was thinking Keith David (he does the voiceovers on the Navy commercials, among others).  But the Haysbert is always a pleasure to hear.

I dunno. Part of what made Chef "Chef" was that we the audience knew it was Issac Hayes doing the voice. That was the "joke".

Replacing Sheila Broflovsky's voice is one thing- no one knew who the actress was. Replacing Chef's voice with someone doing an Issac Hayes impersonation will just sound like someone doing an Issac Hayes impersonation.

I wouldn't be surprised if Chef has a deep-voiced brother/son/cousin, etc who suddenly shows up in South Park to dispense wisdom to "the children".

I could be wrong. But, if I'm right? You heard it here first, baby!

I'm guessing they kill him off or have him disappear, and we'll have a "very special episode" where the kids deal with their loss.

If they trot his parents out for more "T'ree Fiddy!" jokes the sharks will be jumping over each other.

I'm pretty sure Issac did the voice of Papa Chef. Hell, it kinda sounds like he was doing the voice of Mama Chef, too...

(according to a special I watched awhile back, Parker & Stone play with the pitch & speed of people's voices to get them to sound more "kid-like". They could have tinkered with Issac's voice  to have him do Ma, too)

According to this article, Chef will live on.  And I never knew that his real name on the show is James McElroy!  (Where else do I know that name from?)

One of the comments on Mark Morford's blog entry regarding the Hayes/Cruise/South Park brouhaha:

"Isaac Hayes just lost every ounce of credibility and cool he ever possessed. Shaft is now the bitch of a gay, brainwashed actor? It's a sad day."
