Damn, that was a short set!

Done at 10:28.

short set JINX!

Well, I'm not sticking around thru 40 minutes of Coldplay and Aqualung to hear the bonus. Off to VIP Radio, my new fave station.

I'm headin' for WWOZ for today, to get some more mardi gras tunes, straight from the Big Easy.

And yeah, I corrected myself on the Irma Thomas flub above. See original post.
Let's get right to it.

And when was the last time Dave played something from as far back as 1938?

So with a theme set today, any chance of an Oscar set on Friday?  I sent Dave an email on the subject & he hasn't replied.

He used to do a big-band set for April Fools Day (complete with Pardo saying "it's... 1941 today on 10@10").  That's gone the way of the Betamax.  As to Oscars, we suggest it every year, don't we? and last year was the first time he actually took the bait -- no set list posted, but he played 10 songs from movies and HE picked 'em, not Fogheads.

No clues on Dave's blog so far. 'twould be nice if he did one, tho'... "10 best songs that didn't get nominated" would rule!
You spin me right 'round, baby, right 'round

I asked him for the lovely instrumental piece in The Color of Money by Mark Knopfler called "Two Brothers and a Stranger".

heard all of these (minus the paul simon) at the argus last night. i tended bar whilst everyone chowed down on jambalaya, red beans and rice, cornbread and greens, baked mac and cheese, tea cookies, king cake, and smothered chicken. then...at 12:30 in the morning, someone walked in with a tupperware full of dirty rice!!! i emptied half of the bowl onto my plate behind the bar, and doused it with crystal hot sauce. my operative in new orleans tells me that the crystal plant will not recover from katrina. so buy all the crystal hot sauce you can now!!!! they won't be making any more!!!!

Holy crap, now THAT's a tragedy. Crystal is the hot sauce of choice in our house--not just hot for heat's sake like Tabasco, it's got some righteous flavor too. I will be following your suggestion and going out to pick up a few bottles post haste. Thanks for the tip, POC.
