That may explain why Sandie Shaw's version (which is something of a Cap-trina) always sounded kinda French to me.  Maybe Burt was hanging out in Paris.

i'll have to hear sandie's version. i always thought it was a naked eyes original. how foolish of me! that's an obvious bacharach melody.
