25 Oct 2012: it's... 1994
« on: October 25, 2012, 09:01:01 AM »
I'm guessing today is our '90s day. If so I'll stick with 2NG's 1981 retro-chart, which is pretty fantabulous.

1994.  Green Day - Longview kicks off.  Not my favorite, but there are worse TOTHC's.

She'll get 10 points if she plays my Real McCoy.

I'm rooting for ya, bub.

I wonder if DC has a database with all the "suggestions" we made during the AL era?

Nah.

BOS for Jeff Buckley. His songs are musically great, I do believe.

Most of this set has been teetering just on/off the brink of LN.

Until Blues Traveler, which completely killed it.

Edit: Followed by Lisa Loeb, which completely killed it twice.

Yes, this set is unbelievably middle of the road big hits. I'm still happy to hear "Last Goodbye". Everything else is expendable.

I'll give another BOS and non-expendable rating to "Black Hole Sun".

1. Green Day - Longview
(News: Trailer trash Tonya Harding puts hit on Nancy Kerrigan. Kerrigan wonders "WHHHHHHHHYYYYYYY?)
2. Tori Amos - Cornflake Girl
3. Tom Petty - It's Good To Be King
4. The Smashing Pumpkins - Landslide
5. The Cranberries - Zombie
6. Dave Matthews - What Would You Say
(News: Kurt Cobain kills himself. Want to make a Courtney Love joke, but ...)
7. Jeff Buckley - Last Goodbye
8. Blues Traveler - Hook
9. Lisa Loeb - Stay
10. Soundgarden - Black Hole Sun

wow, that looks even worse than I was imagining. WOS "Zombie", one of the most annoying records of that decade. But really... yeesh & sheesh
