25 Sept 2012: Dave Morey in... 1992
« on: September 25, 2012, 10:07:10 AM »
Heh -- hearing AL's voice on a concert promo.

and again the stream is waaaay behind and/or screwed-up.

Fuck, I'm not interested in yet another DM '90s set.

In the last 7 days we've had '90, '89 and '92 -- an indication of where 10@10 is going in the Renee/DC era, I'm assuming.

BOS for Constant Craving. Such a voice.

I'll give an even bigger BOS for the Sundays, especially since it isn't "Here's Where the Story Ends" (which I actually love, but hear too often).

It's bad enough we're not getting new 10@10s, but it's worse that we have to endure Dave during his worst period (for 10@10s).

This is a very Cocteau Cure song. NTM.

**SPOILER ALERT**

This would appear to be the set...

4/3/09 - FRIDAY!!!  A bit o' time in...1992!!!

   1.  Gin Blossoms - Mrs. Rita
   2.  Elvis Costello & the Brodsky Quartet - Jacksons, Monk & Rowe
   3.  k.d. lang - Constant Craving
   4.  The Sundays - Love
   5.  U2 - One
   6.  Right Said Fred - I'm Too Sexy (BEST OF SET!!)
   7.  Eric Clapton - Nobody Knows You When You're Down & Out
   8.  The Cure - High
   9.  Thomas Dolby - I Love You Goodbye
 10.  Chrissie Hynde & Moodswings - Spiritual High (State of Independence)

exactly the sort of '90s Morey set that used to drive me crazy: some of his fave katrinas (k.d., Gin Blossoms, Dolby) and the one cheeze-pop hit he would ever only play in the year in question (in this case, RSF).

assuming (hoping) we're getting a '60s, a '70s and a late-'80s set the next 3 days (unless DC is feeling especially sadistic and gives us another '90s).

I tuned in to the replay, then tuned out after hearing the year and the first song.  The last two might've made me wading through the much of the rest worthwhile.  #3 and #5 are always welcome too.
Don't stand in the way of LOVE!

I think that for awhile I will assign KFOX relativity scores to each 10@10, that is "How many of these songs would ever get played on KFOX"? I might give this set a two (U2 and Clapton). And I think Clapton might be a stretch.

well he gave us '87 today (Wednesday) -- arguably Dave's weakest/least-inspired year.  Talk about completely misreading what made Dave's 10@10s special in the first place. And not a good omen, re: what's ahead with Renee's sets,
