Lost in the '70s today: 2NG's retro-chart is from Sept '75. Lots of good/bad lost UK cheeze.
as the Carpenters sing their gorgeous version of "Solitaire" we discover that Andy Williams charted 18 months earlier in the UK with his take and got to #4 (!).
Eeeek: Crispy & Co. (who??) doing a cheapjack cover of "Brazil" obviously intended to compete with the Richie Family's version. Which it did, successfully, in the UK.
Good lord: TWO versions of "Paloma Blanca" in this chart; the George Baker Selection (which also hit over here) and a Jonathan King take. They're identical, except Baker pronounces it "BLAHN-kah" while King does that idiotic , flat, Brit "BLANK-a".
wow: THREE of my fave slices of early-disco cheeze in this chart... Bimbo Jet's "El Bimbo"; Biddu Orch with "Summer of '42" and 5000 Volts doing "I'm on Fire". Fantabulous.
wow: "Pandora's Box" by Procol Harum is NTM.
