7 August 2012: It's 1988

Thread went up about 45 minutes ago, so far not a huge outpouring of requests and even fewer good ones.
Let's get right to it.

There's also an Olympic tie-in, (Come to think of it, we've had 1980 and 1968 and 2000 recently... could 72, 76, 84, 92 and 96 account for the last three this week)?

I'll give a NTM BOS for Sinead's "Put Your Hands on Me".

OK, "I Want Your Hands On Me". No secret edits here, no no.

Lots of LNs (Smithereens, Talking Heads, Jerry Harrison, Robert Plant, the Church, DM) and a few nice surprises (LL Cool J, Sinead, Peter Murphy). What am I missing here?

Oh yeah, the Waterboys. A great song, but one we hear enough as it is.
Let's get right to it.

Only the Church and LL Cool J were actual Top 40 hits (and both minor ones at that).

This set was awesome sounding.  Robert Plant and DM only have one previous appearance, I wouldn't call those LN's.  Jerry Harrison could go either way, but I thought he sounded good today.  I'm willing to give the Church a pass because as far as I can tell this is Under the Milky Way's first AL appearance.

Sorry, I'm looking at that list and am quite underwhelmed.

Gotta go w/ rad here. Really, only "Only A Memory" would indicate "LN" to me, and I still like the song. We managed the avoid the unholy trinity of "Handle With Care", "Roll With It" and "Wishing Well", and thank heavens we were spared "One Moment In Time".
