Bob will have to work hard to top Dave's Friday '65 set, since Dave really went out of his way to play less-obvious stuff.  But it'll be nice to hear the Beau Brummels anyway (and maybe we'll get 'em twice if Dave uses the BBs in the "local" set).

BOS the 'oo, "My Generation". Astounding that this was not a US hit at the time.

Nice set, Bob. Only repeat from Dave's set: the Knickerbockers' "Lies".

We sang this a capella at my friends Josh & Alli's wedding in June.  (Alli's family name is Brown.  Bonus points: Her father's name is James Brown.  I was elated to see it on the invitation.)

There are no coincidences, part LXVII:

Went to see the Pernice Brothers at the Music Hall Saturday night (very fine show--see them if they come to your town--but not the point of this post). As Joe Pernice was introducing the band, he got to the bass player, who was also a member of the opener, a Brit band called Royal Gun. The bass player's name? Peter Noone.

(My friends Steven & Kevin & I immediately looked at each other and said, "Peter NOONE?!?!?")

I once saw the real Peter Noone (or at least the first one) playing in a New Wave band called the Tremblers at a club in Sac-burg, circa 1980. They were pretty good, and yes, they did play "A Kind of Hush" and "Mrs. Brown..."
Let's get right to it.
