You remember him as square-jawed tough guy and military types including the cowboy driving the Winnebago in "Blues Brothers," Stallone's nemesis Murdock in "Rambo 2," a detective in "Silence of the Lambs," the judge in Tom Hanks' "Philadelphia," and in the original Star Trek TV show, he was a space hippie.
