The Peak week of 9/12/11
« on: September 12, 2011, 07:38:34 AM »
Mon 9/12/11: 1974

Supertamp goes back to "school"; Crapton lets it grow; Joni's Car is on the hill; Neil walks on.  Nice rarity: Souther/Hillman/Furay, "Fallin' in Love"

Holee crap: Lennon/Nilsson's cover of "Many Rivers to Cross"  --- from Pussycats.  This barely got airplay even in '74.

Tue 9/13/11: 1991?

BAD "Rush", RHCP "Give it Away", TP "Out in the Cold", Crowded House "It's Only Natural". Glad I decided to listen to JJ instead.

Wed 9/14/11: 1978

OMG/BOS Blondie's "I'm Gonna Love You Too".  Bruuuuuuce takes us to The Promised Land.  BOS2

Don't look back...and I did (at the playlist):  Aww, missed "Beat on the Brat", BOS3.  My kid always seems to sing this at the top of his lungs at the most inappropriate time.

This "5.7.0.5." by City Boy is NTM, but my guess is that RG would give this one an uber-BOSFRA.

VHM the slightly overplayed "My Best Friend's Girl", but only for the hand claps!

Loved Bette's version of "Beast of Burden".  I still have that 45 somewhere...
BOS4 "Jocko Homo".  The Peak sure gives AL a run for her money with these late 70s sets.

Just arrived -- I'm pleased I missed "Dreadlock Horror-day". and Boston.  But yeah that City Boy track is a fave. ELO meets Queen. I saw them open for Hall & Oates that fall.

OMFG! Dave Edmunds, "Trouble Boys" -- BOS

oh that Mick -- he can suck a duck!

wait, did this set just go to 11?  B-O-S-2 D-e-v-o.  (Oh I see: "Beat on the Brat" wasn't part of 10@10.)

Y-E-S!
ETA:  The set started at 10:06 with "Who Are You", so just 10.

indeed, "Beat on the Brat" is from '76 --I get all those early Ramones songs confused, year-wise.

Thur 9/15/11: 1968

Oh honey "Hush". This looks like a DC-consulted '68 set: "Hey Jude", Jimi, Byrds, Janis. The Band's "I Shall Be Released" gets a BOS; ditto cray-cray Arthur Brown.

OMGWTFLOL: uber-BOS3 Small Faces "Afterglow of Your Love" -- a bustout-of-the-week candidate.

But from the "never again" file: "Born to be Wild".

VHM Doors, "5 to 1"

JCM burns uplike paypah, y'all. Echo/B-men taste some sugah.  Dude! Look like a laydee!

BOS Smiths in a coma.

aaack: Floyd again.

BOS2 Ramones, "I Wanna Live" -- quite a ways from "I Wanna Be Sedated"

VHM Glenn Close: Hell in a bucket, indeed.

Fi-uuuuuuuuh! This one goes out to the 'trina REM loves.

wow, late-'80s Cars ("You Are The Girl") counts as a rarity.

Sorry I missed the Hooters' underrated "Satellite".
