« on: August 01, 2011, 07:55:23 AM »
Mon 8/1/11: Macca-riffic!

in honor of his Wrigley shows this weekend...

we're getting 10 songs he *didn't* play last nite, starting with "Unk Al"

VHM "Maxwell's Silver Hammer", doot-doo-doo-doo.

Mr Silverhammer, have you met Miss Rigby?  She could do with a whack on the noggin.

My glove does it good.

BOS "Every Night", which has held up better than anyone in 1970 could've predicted.

BOSes 2 & 3: "And I Love Her" and "We can Work It Out".

ooo! uber-BOS4 "Bluebird".

unexpected but delightful: "I'm Down". Also unexpected the little- heard spoken intro to "Listen What the Man Said". Hair-ee, yeh yeh.

Paul & Linda McCartney - Uncle Albert
Beatles - Maxwell's Silver Hammer
Beatles - Eleanor Rigby
Wings - My Love
Paul McCartney - Every Night
Beatles - And I Love Her
Beatles - We Can Work It Out
Wings - Bluebird
Beatles - I'm Down
Wings - Listen To What The Man Said

Tue 8/2/11: 1977

stayin' in the '70s for another hour.

do ya do ya want my face? I need it!

holee crap! BOSFRA to Yes, "Parallels" from Going For the One -- yeah they were at the end of their rope, creatively, but how often do ya hear this one?

OTOH: no need to ever hear "Things We Do For Love" again.

ewww! what's that smell? oh, just dead Skynyrds.

holee crap 2/BOSFRA2: Chicago, "Take Me Back to Chicago", another you rarely hear.

OMFG: uber-WOS Foreigner's "StarRider (riadh! ridah!)" -- laughably dreadful.

"was it heavy? did it achieve total heaviosity?"  BOS3 Woody; VHM BJ givin' me a heart attack-ack-ack-ack-ack at Mr Cacciatore's.

Yet another rarity: VHM Steve Miller, boldly ripping off Joe Walsh on "The Stake".

WOS2 Kansas, who probably still think "Point of KNOW Return" is a really clever play on words.

Holee crap 3: UFO, "Love To Love". can't honestly BOS this (dreadful lyrics), but kudos for Seaver (sitting in for Bob); he really dug deep today. And he didn't play Rush!

ELO - Do Ya
Yes - Parallels
10cc - The Things We Do For Love
Lynyrd Skynyrd - That Smell
Chicago - Take Me Back to Chicago
Foreigner - Starrider
Billy Joel - Movin' Out
Steve Miller - The Stake
Kansas - Point of Know Return
UFO - Love to Love

Wed 8/3/11: 1982

hope Bob's substitute host is kind to us. Please: no Asia. Should I stay or should I...

aaack: Thorogood is "Bad", all right.  And the '82 cliche-'trinas continue: Modern English are melting wif yew.

I still have no idea what an "eminence front" is. It's a put-on, all right. I'll never forget this getting airplay on "urban" WBLS in NYC, because their PD heard it at Studio 54 or Paradise Garage or someplace.

No wonder we escaped Rush-free yesterday: Seaver was saving "Subdivisions" for today. WOS and snoozer of the day so far.

Sheesh: WOS2 CSN, "Southern Cross". zzzzzzzz...

BOS Crock o'Siegals, in Iran, Iran so far away. VHM F.Mac, "Hold Me".

so, we get an extended clip about Valerie Bertinelli marrying Eddie Van Halen... but no VH? WTF?  We get "White Wedding" instead, har har. And speaking of Hollywood relationships: Toto lurve "Rosanna"

Clash - Should I Stay Or Should I Go
George Thorogood - Bad To The Bone
Modern English - I Melt With You
The Who - Eminence Front
Rush - Subdivisions
CSN - Southern Cross
Flock of Seagulls - I Ran (So Far Away)
Fleetwood Mac - Hold Me
Billy Idol - White Wedding
Toto - Rosanna

a pleasant valley Thursday...

Unnecessary: "Sunshine Of Your Love". Crapton's seed is pretty dry by now.

BOS Hollies, "Pay You Back With Interest". BOS2 Turtles "She'd Rather Be With Me".  But will she come on down to MY boat? Not if I'm pushin' too hard.

Goo Goo ga Joob! Who *didn't* get Magical Mystery Tour for Xmas that year? Well, maybe Semolina Pilcherd.

BOS3 Jimi, "Red House"

"For gawd's sake, Mrs Robinson!" -- and bless you, Seaver for not following that clip with that song.  Instead we get BOS4, "To Sir With Love".  Proxy of Alicat.

well hello, Mr Soul. VHM BufSpgfld.

Cream - Sunshine of Your Love
Hollies - Pay You Back With Interest
Turtles - She'd Rather Be With Me
Every Mother's Son - Come On Down To My Boat Baby

Fri 8/5/11: 1978

a '78 trifecta this week. Can't be better than Rob's but given the Drive's penchant for rarities lately, it could beat AL's.

Genesis not an auspicious start, however.

VHM VH; TP is back with more money and coke.

There's good AC/DC and bad AC/DC and while "Gone Shootin" is NTM and a bustout... I can't really call it good.

The Dan provide the theme song for a dreadful movie about radio.

We got some Puerto Rican girls dat's just DYIN' tameetchew!

BOS Broooce in da Badlands. One of several songs of his named after NYC gay bars.

Mr Walsh is at the station, falling down.

BOS2 Police, "Next To You"

OMG: BOS3 for sheer silliness: "YMCA". "it's a place dere".

Genesis - Follow You Follow Me
Van Halen - Running With the Devil
Tom Petty - Listen to Her Heart
AC/DC - Gone Shootin'
Steely Dan - FM
Rolling Stones - Miss You
Bruce Springsteen - Badlands
Joe Walsh - At The Station
Police - Next To You
Village People - Y.M.C.A.
