Mon 6/20/11: 1975

fingers crossed for something not-too-shopworn.

ELO's "Fire on High" may have to do.

aaack! "Lorelei" is moving in again.

eeek! Charlie Daniels is singing about the South again.

it's... it's... the ballroom blitz giving me fits.

even less necessary: Iggles, "OOTN".

Yeesh: Skynyrd give us the gun.

BOS MTM/Chuckles the Clown.  Hope that episode shows up on "ME TV" one of these nites.

uber-unnecessary: War.

uber-uber-unnecessary: "Killer 'Trina". What a trial, indeed.

VHM Nazareth's silly "Hair of the Dog" -- a Bone staple, but I don't listen to the Bone much, and compared to the rest of this set it's practically a bustout.

And we close with "Squeeze Box" -- i heard a cool zydeco cover of this on The Boardwalk last week.

ELO - Fire on High
Styx - Lorelei
Charlie Daniels Band - The South's Gonna Do it Again
Sweet - Ballroom Blitz
Eagles - One of These Nights
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Saturday Night Special
Queen - Killer Queen
War - Why Can't We Be Friends
Nazareth - Hair of the Dog
Who - Squeeze Box

Henley sees a Deadhead sticker on a Cadillac.

Beatles (yay) "Follow the Sun" is a nice surprise. BOS.

Cars "Magic" is NOT a nice surprise. Sheesh.

Ain't no cure!  BOS2 the cheezy goodness of Blue Cheer.

VHM a spoonful of summer

WOS Buffett -- c'mon, Bob, "Margaritaville"?? Really??

Zep to start... OMFG! Bob Plays the Carpenters!!  BOS "Superstar"!!!

The Drive has a "live chat" thingy on their site, and Driveheads are none too pleased to hear Karen & Richard...

James Gang followed by Stones.  BOS2 "Wild Horses".

Jeremiah was etc.

Interesting: the live chat crowd on the Drive's site have some sort of baseball-themed "guess what songs Bob will play" game going on. So that Carpenters tune really came outta left field for them.

VHM the 'oo, goin' T-Mobile.

ch-ch-ch-Bowie.

There's a Fiddler on the roof -- that means everything's coming our way.

BOS3 Stevie, "If You Really Love Me"

Led Zeppelin - Going to California
Carpenters - Superstar
James Gang - Walk Away
Rolling Stones - Wild Horses
Three Dog Night - Joy to the World
Jonathan Edwards - Sunshine
Who - Going Mobile
David Bowie - Changes
Santana - Everything is Coming Our Way
Stevie Wonder - If You Really Love Me

ETA: as of shortly before 1pm, Zep and the Carpenters are tied in the BOS voting with 20.6% each.

ETA2: I'm pleased to say the Carpenters won!

Thur 6/23/11: 1979

a Floydian snoozefest starts us off. Call the Police -- or send them a message in a bottle. Fanmail from some flounder?

VHMs ZZT & JJ.

BOS Rupert Holmes and Pina Coladas. I could use a Mojito myself. Or an Old Cuban.

VHM the Start Trek: the Movie commercial with Orson Welles.

inevitable: the Cars. As is Cars 2, apparently.

I don't want Steve Perry to love, touch, or squeeze anything I have. Eww.

Proxy of shray and VHMFRA, REO -- this "Only the Strong Survive" is NTM, methinks.

aaack! WOS Triumph. Almost makes me long for Rush.

Pink Floyd   Young Lust   18.6%
Police   Message In A Bottle   6.0%
ZZ Top   Cheap Sunglasses   8.1%
Joe Jackson   Is She Really Going Out With Him   13.3%

BOS3 George and his weeping guitar.

unexpected treat: JT's "Something in the way she Moves", from his Apple album. BOS4.

And BOS5 the Chambers Bros, tho' whether Bob has "Time" for the loooong version remains to be seen.
