BOS #2, Seger, "You'll Accomp'ny Me"

This is a ballad that holds up extremely well after 25 years (imho).

Too bad KFOG seems to be allergic to Seger.

Improvised, according to IMDb he almost NEVER recites scripted lines in any of his movies.  He reads the script through several times, but when the director yells "Action!" he says whatever he wants.


Saw the trailer for his new one, Broken Flowers (directed by Jim Jarmusch) and he's a guy on an odyssey to find out which one of his ex-girlfriends' kids was fathered by him. Sharon Stone and Frances Conroy are among the ex-paramours. Looks great.

Heh: When I lived in Boston, I would often go to Sunday night karaoke at a club called 608.  There was a semi-regular there who looked a lot like Beck and would perform this song ("Any Way You Want It") in spastic (and on-key!) elation.  I could never tell who was in on the joke, including me.

There was also an old guy who would show up in a captain's hat -- they all called him Captain Carl -- every week and warble "Total Eclipse of the Heart."  But he's for another day.

Ahhhh, but not me.   "That Girl Could Sing" is one of the biggest sledgehammer songs of my existence. I know I have told the whole sob story previously, so I'll spare you this time.

It's a lesser Seger tune, for me. But his love/hate relationship with women is a recurring theme ("Holywood Nights", "Her Strut", etc). I certainly don't see it as a tender ballad... more like "you think you're hot shit, don'cha, bitch? well, someday you'll be mine".  Not exactly a Hallmark Valentine.
