The Peak, week of 8/9/10
« on: August 09, 2010, 07:44:19 AM »
Mon 8/9/10: 1979

fab stuff: Dylan serves, Kinks are falling, Lene Lovich covers Tommy James and a Kihn-tagious "Rendezvous".  Gotta catch this one tonite.

ETA: and after catching Daryl Hall from Austin "Bob", I made it over to the Peak in time for their entire replay.

You may call him Bobby, you may call him Zimmy; I call him VHM.

BOS1 to the delightful Lovich cover of "I Think We're Alone Now" - an ATBB, as is the Rumor (sans Graham Parker) with "Emotional Traffic". BOS2FRA.

Greg Kihn: hate your politics, love your version of "Rendezvous". VHM.

Wed 8/11/10: 1973

Mostly standard stuff (EJ, Sly, ABB, Stones) but the Dan's "Boston Rag" is an ATBB, methinks, as is "Glamour Boy" by the Guess Who.

For people who are having fun, Rob played the Schafer's beer jingle this morning as part of a 1970 set.  Makes up for the 27-minute CCR "Grapevine."

And wow, the Band's "Stage Fright" has got to be an ATBB.

Rob went bustout-happy as the set went on: the Beach Boys' "Slip on Through," Clapton's "Blues Power," Cocker's "Cry Me a River," and now the Stooges' "Loose."  Glad I was up early!

wow, that Beach Boys tune was NTM -- about the only track from Sunflower that got any NYC airplay was "Add Some Music to Your Day".
