I find the KISS records reference funny in this song.
the band has humor, for sure. In concert, Rick Nielsen usually chucks out a faux Kiss album at that point int the song.
He used to toss real ones. Wha' happen? There should still be an endless supply in garage sales and thrift stores around the country.
Interview w Rick Nielsen
Q: Do you still throw out KISS records during 'Surrender'? Is it easy to find vinyl copies of KISS records these days? Before long you'll only be able to throw out memory sticks?
A: Yeah, we're the only reason KISS got back together for the 35th anniversary tour.
Q: Do you get a discount from Gene for all the KISS covers or do you have to pay him royalties for using the KISS brand?!
A: Yeah, Gene charges us double - nah Gene's a good guy but his sleeves are hard to come by these days, so we use some Cheap Trick flats as well......but if we can find a good KISS record we'll definitely toss that into the audience.
