The Sound, week of 5/3/10
« on: May 03, 2010, 11:01:05 AM »
Mon 5/3/10: 1983

Let's Dance - David Bowie
2 Hearts Beat as One - U2
Straight From the Heart - Bryan Adams
Burning Down the House - Talking Heads
Jeopardy - Greg Kihn Band
Blister in the Sun - Violent Femmes
Buffalo Soldier - Bob Marley
Come on Feel the Noize - Quiet Riot
Wrapped Around Your Finger - Police
I Love L.A. - Randy Newman

quite the well-rounded assortment. Always amazes me that "Blister in the Sun" is from '83 -- I didn't really discover it until I moved here; Live 105 played it as an "oldie" quite often.

Tue 5/4/10: 1974

Can't Get Enough - Bad Company
The Bitch is Back - Elton John
Searchin' So Long - Chicago
I Shot the Sheriff - Eric Clapton
Help Me - Joni Mitchell
Ain't Too Proud to Beg - Rolling Stones
Best of My Love - Eagles
Rock Me Gently - Andy Kim
Sweet Home Alabama - Lynyrd Skynyrd
Carpet Munchers Crawlers - Genesis

OMG! Kudos Larry for the Andy Kim! WOS-in-perpetuity "Sweet Home Alabummer" -- that's the 3rd '74 set in a month where it's gotten a spin (I'll bet they play it in reg rotation at least as often as KFOG or the Drive). The Sound website censored the word "Bitch" in the EJ title. WTF?

Thur 5/6/10: 1979

Bad Case of Loving You - Robert Palmer
Borrowed Time - Styx
Pop Muzik - M
I Want You To Want Me - Cheap Trick
Heart of Glass - Blondie
Arrow Through Me - Wings
Lay It On the Line - Triumph
Accidents Will Happen - Elvis Costello
Even the Losers - Tom Petty
Do Ya Think I'm Sexy - Rod Stewart

despite some AOR crapola, give it up for Larry playing Wings' "Arrow Through Me" -- a serious rarity if not an ATBB.

Fri 5/7/10: 1987

I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For - U2
Paradise City - Guns N Roses
What Have I Done to Deserve This - Pet Shop Boys
Little LIes - Fleetwood Mac
Just Like Heaven - The Cure
Time Stand Still - Rush
Cherry Bomb - John Mellencamp
Beds Are Burning - Midnight Oil
Wishing Well - Terence Trent D'Arby
Girls Girls Girls - Motley Crue

other than the PSBs... yeesh that's horrible.  Are there any radio stations (Lite Rock, Classic Rock, Triple-A) that play any TTD songs in regular rotation? 'cause "Wishing Well" is an across-the-board 10@10 staple fo' sho'.

Was in LA last week & caught Thurs. and Fri.'s 10 @ 10's.  I agree nothing really special (except for Wings and PSB as RGMike mentioned, & I'll add Rod Stewart too) but it was still very listenable...and fun to hear how another station does it.
