OK, so I've been listening to the show while doing the 3 S's getting ready for the conference.  Quick notes:

I would have much rather heard all of "Arthur's Theme" than the Joe Walsh.

Segueing from Reagan's family planning cutbacks into things-just-happen: Gene Yuss.  That song was cool, too: anyone else hear a bit of Queen's "I'm Going Slightly Mad" in there?

BOS to Climax Blues Band, presumably a proxy from Mshray for that one as well.
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”

Least necessary: "Vienna", one of Dave's prime 1981 'trinas.  The opening of it always makes me think (hope) that it's early OMD.

The Undertones -- I knew the voice (Feargal Sharkey) was familiar!

So who-the-fuck is Gene Yuss?

Dave's stumped all of us!

the waiting to find out who it was is the hardest part...

The Undertones--I remember the name but the song is a stumper. A Narada if there ever was one.

And Dave sez "Vienna" is "very tasteful." OK, whatever.
Let's get right to it.

mshray, when you're back from the meeting -- FYI this week's Little Steven show was a salute to the Who. Unfortunately, the Bone fucked up and re-ran last week's Mother's Day show Sun nite.  So I'm gonna try and check out the 'oo via his website.

indeed: I know them and they got airplay back then -- but I'd never heard that song.  Has Dave ever played their much-better-known "Teenage Kicks" ?  I'll have to bring Feargal Sharkey's criminally underrated solo LP on Sat.

I don't know if Dave's played it but that title rings a bell.

And I feel like a big goob for thinking Gaz was supplying the name of the guy who did the song (Gene Yuss)! He was, in fact, commenting on how cool the seque was.

Do not ask for whom the tambourine jingles... it jingles for THEE!

Was that the tune that John Peel said was better than any other song ever? Great song.
Let's get right to it.
