The Drive, 8/13/09: 1981

seems like every time I turn around, Bob's doing 1981. Expecting crapola, but he's surprised us before.

Police are spirits in the material world; .38 Special get a WOS for the worthless, generic "Fantasy Girl".

yikes! from "Fantasy Girl" to "Fantasy".  WOS2 Aldo not-so-super-Nova.  Bryan Adams ripped this one off pretty obviously with "Run To You", no?

as always happens, Geils score their biggest LP with their least-compelling material., not to mention a totally WTF? album cover.

BOS Winwood, seeing his chance to be the best of a lackluster lot so far.

Chrissie arrives like the day, and passes like a cloud. BOS2 "Talk of the Town", which I bought as an import 45 the year before.

Police - Spirits in the Material World
.38 Special - Fantasy Girl
Aldo Nova - Fantasy
J. Geils Band - Freeze Frame
Steve Winwood - While You See a Chance
Billy Squier - In the Dark
Phil Collins - In the Air Tonight
Pretenders - Talk of the Town
Squeeze - Tempted
Styx - Snowblind

the set-list on the Drive page showed "Tempted" as being by "The Squeeze". Interns are the same all over, I guess. LOL!

Tomorrow: not a Woodstock set per se, but Bob's doing 1969.
