RIP Jay Bennett, 45
« on: May 24, 2009, 11:33:37 PM »
The ex-Wilco guitarist and multi-instrumentalist died in his sleep last night. He'd been in quite a bit of pain due to an old hip injury, but no idea how or if that played a part in his demise. Very shocking--he was a very very talented man.

Wow.  "Shocking" is an understatement.  The friction between Bennett and Jeff Tweedy in I am Trying to Break Your Heart was palpable, and sad.  Perhaps even sadder - from the obit:

Quote
In late April, Bennett wrote on his MySpace blog about dealing with intense pain from a hip injury suffered during a dive from the stage while playing with Titanic Love Affair. He was preparing to have surgery, but was concerned about his lack of health insurance.
