A British 10@10 (sorta)
« on: November 07, 2008, 01:13:49 PM »
London's Heart FM does something called "Time Tunnel" featuring a specific year:

http://www.heart1062.co.uk/the-time-tunnel-44

Unfortunately for us it's at 9am London time, which is 1am Pacific.  But maybe the Princess could check it out and report back...  The station has an urban/dance bent, here's their 1979 set from this morning

Gimme Gimme Gimme - Abba
Heart Of Glass - Blondie
Street Life - Crusaders & Randy Crawford
Don't Stop Till You Get Enough - Michael Jackson
Lost In Music - Sister Sledge
Still - Commodores
Hot Stuff - Donna Summer
Gonna Get Along Without You Now - Viola Wills
Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now - McFadden & Whitehead
I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor

You spin me right 'round, baby, right 'round

Maybe Tinka could set his nifty stream recorder, and he could check it out that way and give us the skinny.
Let's get right to it.

today they did 1997:

I Wanna Be The Only One - Eternal & Be Be Winans
Quit Playing Games (With My Heart) - Backstreet Boys
Say What You Want - Texas
Angels - Robbie Williams
Don't Speak - No Doubt
Ain't That Just The Way - Lutricia Mcneal
Torn - Natalie Imbruglia
Something About The Way You Look - Elton John
I Believe I Can Fly - R Kelly
I'll Be Missing You - Puff Daddy & Faith Evans

Let's hope Dave never plays "I'll be Missing You" in a '97 set.  But anything else here would be welcome.

here's what the website says about the Time tunnel:

Win your colleagues' respect - and a round of tea!

More Music VarietyIs it 1984 or 1985? It's a fact that the Time Tunnel causes more debate around the watercooler than any other topic.

When Heart plays 10 songs from one year at 9am every weekday, people in offices argue over just which year it is. Now, Heart is giving you the chance to prove once and for all, that you are the Time Tunnel Master!

We have created a downloadable scorecard for you to print out and stick on your office wall. Each of you guesses which year the songs are from and you get points if you're right:
3 points for a correct answer
1 point if you're a year out

The winner at the end of each week is the winner - we'll leave it to you to suggest what you are playing for, but we'd recommend the loser has to make the tea all day!

cute game, I suppose (making every day a "guess the year"), but I'm afraid to pay too much attention to this lest I am suddenly time-tunneled into a shite job at Wernam-Hogg in Slough.

Gee, they're encouraging competition the way Dave does when he plays a Set o' Mystery, except Dave always suggests we wager a couple of bucks. Which is probably a little less work than having to make tea all day.
Let's get right to it.

This was London Heart's "Time Tunnel" set today -- 1989 -- and granted, they're an upbeat, dance-urban format, but any of these would be welcome in an '89 set from Dave:

1. This Time I Know It's For Real - Donna Summer
2. You Keep It All In - Beautiful South
3. Back To Life - Soul II Soul
4. Eternal Flame - Bangles
5. Right Here Waiting - Richard Marx
6. Like A Prayer - Madonna
7. Ride On Time - Black Box
8. All Around The World - Lisa Stansfield
9. Every Little Step - Bobby Brown

if memory serves, only the Madonna tune has actually appeared in a KFOG 10@10
