The Peak, 1/22/09: 1988

Bruce Hornsby doesn't get a lot of love, but The Valley Road is a lovely song with some really nifty ivory work.  BOS since it is 1988 after all.

This tune only sounds vaguely familiar, but I like it a lot this morning.  BOS #3 The Go-Betweens "Streets of Your Town"

ETA: Alllmusic says they were an Aussie band who made it big in London, and gives this album 5 stars.  May have to check this out further.

I've expressed my love for this one many times. Sorry I missed Debbie Harry -- that's a fab forgotten cover.

Michelle Shocked - If Love Was a Train
Robert Plant - Tall Cool One
Talking Heads - Nothing But Flowers
Traveling Wilburys - Dirty World
Bruce Hornsby & The Range - The Valley Road
Debbie Harry - Liar, Liar
U2 - Angel Of Harlem
The Go-Betweens - Streets of Your Town
Mike The Mechanics - The Living Years
Hothouse Flowers - Don't Go

Pretty fine set, no clunkers at all really.  In fact I'd have to say U2 was the weakest song in there.

Not bad at all -- the Go-Betweens several albums of that period are def worth a listen.
