The Peak, 8/26/08: 1971!
« on: August 26, 2008, 07:43:41 AM »
arrived in time for the closer, "Surf's Up".

Who Baba O'Riley
Nilsson Me and My Arrow
Doors Love Her Madly
Joan Baez Night They Drove Old Dixie Down
Rolling Stones Bitch
David Bowie Queen Bitch
Rod Stewart Maggie May
Freda Payne Bring The Boys Home
Led Zeppelin When The Levee Breaks
Beach Boys Surf's Up

Nice stuff -- Gaz, who iirc has never heard Ms Baez's cover of "TNTDODD", should catch the replay.  Kudos on she-took-2-Tylenol-and now-she's-Freda Payne.

If I don't see "Hair" in the park tonight then I'll catch this replay.

OMG! I was gonna ask you today if "Hair" was part of your "staycation" plans! Hope you get to see it.

Didn't get "Hair" tickets - I may have to devote Friday afternoon to standing in line like the mortals.   ;D

So I'm home, and giving a BOS vote to Haven't Got Time For Freda Payne.  Bring the boys home!

I appreciate Joan staying in the character of "Virgil," with "a wife in Tennessee."  Gutsy.

And she would have had more Top 40 hits if she'd had a backing choir like this more often.

Not sure how I feel about "Surf's Up."  Lovely vocal arrangement, of course.  Of course I love erudition, but I can't help thinking "columnated ruins domino" was too much for a pop song.  Can pop aspire to complex poetry, or what's a heaven for?
