RIP Darian O'Toole
« on: April 02, 2008, 08:07:19 AM »
DJ/Talk Host who worked at Big 98.1, KSAN (before it was The Bone) and "Free FM".  All Access is supposedly reporting this, but I can't find a link.  There was a hoax report back in 2001 that she had died on one of the 9/11 planes, but this looks like the real deal this time.

From a post on the NYRMB by her former on-air partner Shawn Kelly:

"My old friend and radio partner, Darian O'Toole aka Karin Begin is dead at age 40. She died Monday night in Oakland. She was in the hospital with a broken leg when respiratory failure set in. I hired Karin in Nova Scotia and realized what a great talent she was. I encouraged her to move to the US where she was able to land a morning gig in San Francisco. I became her partner and we made some great radio. We moved to New York and gave it a good shot. Due to circumstances that were out of my control, she was fired and I stayed here in New York. We lost contact after that. I owe her a huge debt of gratitude and I won't forget the good times we had."
