i thought tony christie was tom jones. i thought it funny, too, that he refused to rhymes "clear" and "fear" with "maria."

Indeed Mr Christie's voice is quite TJ-like.  And they play this song quite a lot.

There was a lovely Carpenters special on KQED last nite, I only caught the last half. Poor, poor Karen.
