too bad Urth has jury duty. He's gonna be bummed.
Certainly I would have been, but luckily for me they didn't start calling groups into courtrooms until about 10:35, I was not among the first called, and I got decent reception on my little pocket radio in the jury assembly room. So I heard essentially all of the set. Very nice. Really wish I could have heard the bonus track though. Hard to pick just one BOS--would have to be a tie between the Bowie, the Sly Stone tune, and the Stones.
And I knew Mike would post some variation on his "mellow galoot" line--some things you can just count on.
Dave made several references to the Carpenters on the morning show, so I knew it was likely to be somewhere between 71 and 74, say. He also played a couple of clips from his Carpenters box--a Japanese soda pop jingle that Karen did, and some radio contest aircheck that was more late 60s puker-DJ than Karen.
And as for the rest of my day, I once again was dismissed after spending a day sitting in a courtroom watching other people get questioned by a couple of attorneys. I'm a little relieved, but having been thru essentially the same experience three times now, I was kind of hoping to get picked so I could go thru the process of actually being a juror, not just in the jury pool. Maybe next time.
