So, last call for anyone to make a guess or two before I give it away.

i'm still trying to figure out who the hell fast eddie is.

Fast Eddie Felson, played by Paul Newman in 1961's "The Hustler" and 1986's "The Color Of Money".

aha! i was thinking of a guitar player for some reason. :) i don't remember seeing "color." i'm too much of a minnesota fats purist, i guess.

Please give it away now.

OK...

Pacino as Michael Corleone in both Godfather flicks (too bad he didn't get nommed for #3!).

Paul Newman as Fast Eddie in Hustler and Color of Money.

Those you knew.

This one I'd've never got: Bing Crosby as Father O'Malley in Going My Way and Bells of St Mary's -- in consecutive years, no less, '44 and '45 -- yeesh!

Finally, Peter O'Toole as King Henry II in Becket and Lion in Winter. And this trivia came up because O'Toole is said to give an Oscar-worthy, career-capping perf in the upcoming Venus, as an old man with a crush on a twentysomething woman.
You spin me right 'round, baby, right 'round

I found that one by research, but clearly never would have known it off the top of my head.  OTOH, I own Lion in Winter & have used both Becket & it in my history teaching days, and Peter O'Toole is one of my all-time faves, so I'm gently kicking myself for not coming up with that one.

my first thought was corleone, but i was thinking of "winners," not "noms." imho, the third version should never have been made into a film. just horrible.

and i thought of o'toole, but not of becket...what fun trivia!
