The Peak, 08/29/06: It's 1992

Some definitely standouts so far: U2, "One"; Morrissey, "We Hate It When Our Friends Become Successful"; and my BOS, Gim Blossoms, "Hey Jealousy."  This is more or less how the year sounded to me, to the limited extent that I was engaged with contempo music while in college.  (I was moreso listening to Steely Dan, Jellyfish, and the Doors during this time.)

Ooh, and a VHM to Suzanne Vega's improbable "99.9 Fahrenheit Degrees."

Improbable, as in, I certainly didn't expect her to go in that sort of sonic direction, and I doubt most music fans did.

Guilty Displeasure to "Galileo," which, like "Closer to Fine," lost all its weight by being soundtrack to too many drunk-college-girl gatherings in the '90s.
