OMG! I missed Piper's "Can't Wait", a lost power-pop gem (for the uninitiated, Piper was Billy Squier's band before he discovered hard-rock schlock).

And OMG2! Here's Ronnie Spector, following Billy Joel's "Movin Out" with her FAB-ulous cover of his "Say Goodbye to Hollywood".

BOSs to the 2 songs above, obviously, and VHM Townsend/Lane, "Street in the City" for the second time in a week.

Wow, this made my evening.  BOS!  (And I *love* "Anthony's Song"!)  I've sometimes wondered what Billy Squier's life/career trajectory would have been had the "Rock Me Tonite" video been better received.  (I was going to type "conceived," but I changed my mind.  I *like* him as a prancing Chelsea theater queen, dammit!)  But back on point, this was a great record that I guess just came out in the wrong year.

Is this the E Street band backing her up?  Also sounding very nice tonight, though the sleigh bells make this such a wintry arrangement.

Glad ya liked it. They certainly got their share of WNEW-FM play, along with Pezband (Raspberries wannabes), Fotomaker and others of that ilk. I can't remember if that Piper LP was the same one with "Who's Your Boyfriend?"  -- another wonderful shoulda-been-a-hit that got major NY airplay at the time. But both Piper LPs are apparently long out-of-print, sadly.  I have "Can't Wait" on one of the recently discussed Rhino DIY series.
