Have fun.  I got in too late for the Drive's '66 set (damn!) but now I'm heading out to find a spot to watch the US-Czech World Cup match.

BTW, from the British-to-American dictionary:

bint noun. Woman, in the loosest sense of the word. One step short of a prostitute, a bint is a bird with less class, less selectivity, more makeup and even more skin. Blokes don't talk to bints unless they've had at least eight pints of beer, which is why bints turn up in free-for-students nightclubs at 2:45am with their faked student ID and dance around their Moschino rucksacks. The word derives from the Arabic for "daughter of".

OK, this set officially edges out Rob's, but hey, 2 excellent '79 sets that contained at least 3 songs Dave's never touched.

I hear a lot of hate for this song in my other circles.  To fully enjoy it, must one be unfamiliar with Suzi Q's prior body of work?  (I've never heard "Can the Can" et al, so I'm happy to treat her as a trash-singles artisan rather than an Important Feminist Rocker.)

Well, I AM familiar with her early-'70s stuff (got a bit of play on NYC FM despite going nowhere commercially in the US -- WNEW-FM was very attuned to what was happening on the UK charts).  And I love both of her incarnations.  

But I suspect that, to a Brit, "Can The Can", "Devil Gate Drive" et al are considered just as cheezy/commercial as, say, Sweet's "Little Willy".  American music geeks, on the other hand, can feel superior for liking something that failed to chart in the US.

Hey, thanks for that.  I was trading favorite Monty Python lines with someone recently, and I said that one day I'd really love to have the opportunity to go off on someone of the opposite gender (& by opportunity, I mean they'd have really earned it & I wouldn't just be acting like a dick), so I could call them a 'moistened bint'.

And have them get the reference.
