Damn, missed Pretenders "Precious" and Elvis C's "Temptation" (Get Happy being yet another LP that Dave eschews).

OMG!!! Clash, "Hitsville UK"!!!  Speaking of songs not on the Morey radar.  BOS!!! (and possibly Best of Week)

OMG2/BOS2! "Tired of Toein' the Line", just a great pop single. This may be the best 1980 set ever.

No Shit!  Awesome.  I have to work kinda late tonight, maybe I'll just plan on staying until the repeat is over.

Ditto on the "Precious"

Now Howard the Duck and Mr. Stress both stayed,
Trapped in a world that they never made.
But not me baby I'm too precious. Fuck off!

And speaking of the Clash, took the kids to see Over the Hedge, which is quite recommendable.  All the songs in the movie are by Ben Folds, but after they reprise his theme over the first half of closing credits they then switch to "Lost In The Supermarket".  Had to exit with kids pulling me on both arms, so I couldn't tell if it was the original or a very faithful cover by Mr. Folds.  Either way a nice surprise.

Intend to see that this weekend -- I nearly saw it last night, but MUNI didn't cooperate, which was just as well, since I got home in time to see Frank Thomas homer against the White Sox (too bad the bullpen blew it), followed by a fine Giants game.  Not often the Cards lose 9-2.

2nd worst loss of the season so far (they lost 12-4 to the Pirates of all teams).  Six of their 16 losses so far have been by one run, which strikes me as a high percentage.

Listening on the replay, forgot how nice a song "Temptation" is.

And I never knew it was about Springsteen until Rob mentioned it.

Who’s this kid with his mumbo jumbo
Living in air-conditioned limbo
Though they treat him just like a guest
He’s living under threat of arrest
Now that he’s finally trying to make some sense
He drinks in self-defense
Give me temptation

The subtle touch of authority will
Take you anytime down to the station
You say that it’s alright by me
Now you’re living with the curse of sophistication
Now that you’re shackled up to the rigmarole
With absolute control

I see you lying so wide awake
After I’ve given you all that you can take
So for heaven’s sake
Give me temptation

Still you want to succeed so badly
Finding your life will not be deadly
You tell me you can take it or leave it
Sometimes I think that you really believe it
You’re just itching to break her secret laws
As you go from claws to clause
Give me temptation
You spin me right 'round, baby, right 'round
