The Peak, 03/13/06: It's 1977
« on: March 13, 2006, 07:03:46 AM »
Always a pleasant surprise when Rob goes pre-1980.  Can someone update the front page so that instead of the dead Peak link it goes to their "Listen" page, http://www.1071thepeak.com/listen/ ?  Grazie.

P.S.  I'm filling in at the Voice all this week, so my presence will be rather limited.

"Give a Little Bit" always puts me to sleep, but "35mm Dreams" was nice.

arrived in time for "35mm" -- Jeffries is a forgotten near-genius.

"Bette Davis she weeps/She plays the poor white slave"

Rob's '70s sets are the best of all 10@10s IMHO. Sorry to have missed Mr DeVille, but he's a ToddTopia even Dave rarely plays.

MIXED UP SHOOK UP GIRL - MINK DEVILLE
THE CHAIN - FLEETWOOD MAN
SHORT PEOPLE - RANDY NEWMAN
GOING FOR THE ONE - YES
(THE ANGELS WANNA WEAR MY) RED SHOES - ELVIS COSTELLO
GIVE A LITTLE BIT - SUPERTRAMP
35 MILLIMETER DREAMS - GARLAND JEFFREYS
LOVE IN ACTION - UTOPIA
ONE LOVE/PEOPLE GET READY - BOB MARLEY & THE WAILERS
(I'M) STRANDED - THE SAINTS
You spin me right 'round, baby, right 'round

BOS "Stranded", by the Saints another long-forgotten Punk/New Wave one-album-wonder. Haven't heard this since '77.
