Looked at the list and I have no clue.

The big hint was the birthday thing mentioned (someone's birthday 122 years ago today, and I looked up birthdays from 122 years ago)... and, in Wednesday's set's backsell, he mentioned "Hold Your Head Up" was a preview of this set's theme.  So I'm pretty sure I know what the theme is, though I haven't listened yet, and I'm not sure the songs all meet the requirement.  Though Ray Charles almost certainly does.

That's all the hints I'm giving.

ETA:  Listening now, and DW gives it away just before the set.  And it's right up front with the Ray Charles track.  BOS Brother Ray.

Got it now, tho' I had to go to 5 different birthday sites to find individual dates for Jan 1895 :)  Given the theme, a nice varied set.

Just starting to listen. Weird NTM version of The Band's "This Wheel's On Fire". No idea who this is, let alone the theme...

Listening now, and even looking at the list I'm kind of stumped.

But one thing I caught in the list: For tune number 9, the song is "House of Bamboo" and the artist is Southern Culture on the Skids, not the other way around as it says in the list.
Let's get right to it.

OK, done listening and you're totally right: he drops it in your lap in the intro (and with the mention in Monday's set) if you're paying attention -- maybe. I heard the one in today's set on first listen and it flew right by me. And a good set, too.
Let's get right to it.

One of the more well-known cover versions of the tune, as it was used as the theme to the cult-fave Brit sitcom Absolutely Fabulous.

BTW -- did he really play Russ Taff's version of "I Still Believe" rather than The Call's?  Seems odd.

It's certainly not the normal version. Never heard of Russ Taff. The song sounds exactly the same otherwise.

Always amusing to hear the Charlatans doing their best Deep Purple impression.

"House of Bamboo" is a fun tune, and quite different from most SCotS songs.

Oooh, I like the Secret! Wish I'd noticed it. The 122nd birthday was no help at all. I have two bonus tracks that he could have used instead of "Whiter Shade of Pale".

Chest Fever - The Band

Or........

The Happy Organ -- Dave "Baby" Cortez!

Though I suppose that's the wrong kind of organ. Who cares? It's the Happy Organ!
