Remember last year when I had a long chat with Irish Greg at a SJ supermarket where I was one of about 4 Fogheads to show up for their promo?  And he told me that someone had sent Dave a 5 year spreadsheet of 10@10 songs?  And when I asked him the next day to forward it to us & he said Dave had deleted it?  Remember that?  Greg strongly implied that keeping databases is NOT the way Dave works.

which makes it very convenient for Dave to say "we don't play songs over and over."  In politics that's called "deniability"

I don't know what Bob (Stroud)'s er, situation, is -- but I think he and Dave would get along famously.

"Like listening to the Beatles without earmuffs..."

Don't remember that quote at all.  Pretty cool.

"Schtrict rules of golf, Goldfinger?"

Interesting to remember that the target audience for a Bond film in 1964 (i.e. folks over 30) were assumed to hate rock'n'roll.

"My name is Pussy Galore."

The quote that launched a thousand drag names.

"No Mr Bond! I expect you to die!" Bwahahahahaha!

VHM Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. I LOVED that show when I was 9 or 10.

For goodness sakes! I got the Hippy Hippy Shakes!  And Bob used my "don't blink" line -- coincidence?

Expecting a Beatles Twin-Spin and some early Supes.

Don't blink! these '64 sets are notoriously short.  Which is good, because Dave's supposed to interview the author of that bio of Sylvester, which is supposed to be great.

so far my favorite repercusion of the Pontiff's passing is that in order to attend the state funeral, Prince Charles has had to reschedule his wedding with Camilla P-B.

What a schlmozzle!

Schlemeil! Schlmozzle! Hassenpfeffer Incorporated!

Give us any chance we'll take it
Read us any rule we'll break it...

As I've had it explained to me: The Schlemeil is the guy who spills his soup at the restaurant; the Schlmozzle is the guy who gets the soup spilled on him.  Is this accurate?

Sounds about right.

BTW, should you care, I'm told NYC's K-Rock did a major format-tweak today -- they're now a lot like The Bone.

I've switched to an oldies station in northern NJ, Oldies 1360, another of those "older" oldies stations. Not nearly as good as our own 1510 in Marin, but they're playing "Jean" by Oliver, which I haven't heard in decades. Loverly.

and the bonus: "Water Song", Hot Tuna. Which, along with the Airplane and SRV tracks was put into heavy KFOG rotation after 9/11 because it was considered "comfort music".
Nobody plays bass like Jack Casady does on that song.  The burning distortion of the Versatone amp really sings!

No diss intended. I love it, it was a staple of NYC prog-FM when I was in HS/college. So I was actually surprised to hear it turn up on KFOG, first as an unearthed nugget on Acoustic Sunrise, and then in frequent  appearances after 9/11.  It IS comforting. And that's a good thing, as Martha would say.
