The New 10@10 / Re: 19 May 2017: it's... a Chris Cornell tribute
« on: May 19, 2017, 10:56:41 AM »
In the last few years I saw Soundgarden twice, my buds are fans.  Good stuff, made loud to play loud.  In the middle of a Soundgarden show, "Black Hole Sun" sounds so poppy you'd swear it was the Zombies or something.

Listening now, I didn't recall that Cornell did the Bond theme for Casino Royal.

SPOILER ALERT (playlist):

.
.
 1. Chris Cornell, You Know My Name
 2. Soundgarden, Black Hole Sun
 3. Temple of the Dog – Hunger Strike
 4. Audioslave – Like a Stone
 5. Chris Cornell, Fell On Black Days [Soundgarden]
 6. Soundgarden, Spoonman
 7. Audioslave – Peace Love & Understanding (Live)
 8. Soundgarden, Outshined
 9. Chris Cornell, Seasons
 10. Chris Cornell Nothing Compares 2 U (Live)

ETA:  Quite enjoyable.  RIP.

I just got caught in a click-bait slide show of Star Wars jokes, so I'm only going to post my favorite (they are all pretty lame):

Q. Why did Anakin Skywalker cross the road?
A. To get to the Dark Side.

Author of Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance.

The study of the art of motorcycle maintenance is really a miniature study of the art of rationality itself. Working on a motorcycle, working well, caring, is to become part of a process, to achieve an inner peace of mind. The motorcycle is primarily a mental phenomenon.

Got it.

With the intro clue, the setlist, and google... (I googled the first 3 songs to confirm, and I don't need to google the Zep track).

Won't spoil it...

So apparently today, after a mere 39 years of closeted togetherness, Barry Manilow and his manager came out as a couple.

http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/la-et-entertainment-news-updates-april-barry-manilow-on-relationship-with-1491418685-htmlstory.html

Who'd have guessed?!?

actually he came out 2 years ago when he got married  to the guy. That this "new" BBC interview is "trending" today is not really new.

Sigh. I hate the internet.

This breaking news just in, Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead.

Gonna give this one a listen after lunch.  Been a while since I bothered actually listening to a set - I should probably stop previewing.

I just love that they can't even bring the anti-Obamacare bill to a vote.  Thankfully, Trump is seemingly too incompetent at this point to do actual damage.

Godfather of Rock'n'Roll.

RIP, one of the true greats of R&R.  Few, if any, had greater influence on the genre.

Somehow when I saw the year I had a feeling we were gonna get Carry On Wayward Son. At least it was out of the way early.

Tasty FM cheese, if you ask me.  But there's no accounting for taste.
