I looked very deep into the topics and couldn't find a thread for jokes.  There's one for bad jokes,
and another for links to funny stuff on the Internet.  So here it is.

Stream of Consciousness / music quotes
« on: January 22, 2014, 05:47:09 PM »
I collect quotes, and I have hundreds of them.  I know there are web sites devoted to quotations,
but I steer clear of them like a diabetic with a sweet tooth stays away from candy stores.  But
whenever I encounter an interesting quote in something I read or watch, I add it to my file.  This
board's limit on signatures means some of my quotes won't fit.  So this thread is for quotes -- long
or short -- from and about music, musicians, the recording industry, etc.

In Memoriam, Happy Birthday / Robert Zildjian, 89
« on: March 30, 2013, 04:14:35 PM »
A couple of days late... from 28-Mar-13:

Robert 'RZ' Zildjian -- the guy who founded the Sabian cymbal company
-- died today at the age of 89.

Zildjian was a titan in the music world -- and was credited with
re-inventing the cymbal industry after leaving the business started by
his family, the Zildjian cymbal company.

According to reports, Zildjian singlehandedly grew Sabian into the 2nd
largest cymbal company in the world ... only placing behind his family's
business, which he helped run for years.

Basically, if you've ever played the drums ... or know someone who has
... or have ever seen a live band perform ... there's a damn good chance
you've heard Robert's work.
