There were about ten minutes of dead air after the backsell... somebody screwed up.

In Memoriam, Happy Birthday / RIP Judy Carne, 76
« on: September 08, 2015, 01:03:37 PM »
Judy Carne, a sprightly British actress and comedian who rocketed to pop culture fame as the "sock it to me" girl
on "Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In," a landmark of television zaniness, before her career was derailed by drug arrests
and a near-fatal automobile accident, died on Thursday in Northampton, England. She was 76.

Martin Milner, an actor who broke out of supporting movie roles as the quintessential clean-cut young man to achieve
television stardom as one of two road-hungry bachelors in "Route 66" and later as a veteran police officer in "Adam-12,"
died on Sunday at his home in Carlsbad, Calif. He was 83.

KFOG's 10@10 / 24 Aug 2015: it's... Local Music Monday mashup #4
« on: August 23, 2015, 05:22:25 PM »

I crunched my files and found that over years, seventy different artists/groups have been
featured on the various local music 10@10s.  So there's plenty of selections remaining for
this show and even a fifth next week.  As previously mentioned, Santana still hasn't been
played; I'm hoping to hear two of my favorite underrepresented groups:  Hot Tuna and
The New Riders of the Purple Sage.  (Is it too much to hope for something other than
Water Song and Panama Red?)

Anne Meara, Comedian and Actress, Dies at 85

"Anne Meara, who was half of one of the most successful male-female comedy teams of all time and who went on
to enjoy a long and diverse career as an actress and, late in life, a playwright, died on Saturday in Manhattan.
She was 85."

I probably first heard/heard of Anne Meara on the Blue Nun commercials.

I heard the promo this afternoon... "who shot JR?" and some other stuff I forgot.  So I guess
that's 1980.

Raphael Ravenscroft, Saxophonist on 'Baker Street,' Dies at 60
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/10/23/arts/music/raphael-ravenscroft-saxophonist-on-baker-street-dies-at-60.html?_r=0

Quote
Mr. Ravenscroft received a flat fee for his work on the song, which made Mr. Rafferty a fortune, but it kick-started his career.  A virtual unknown when he played on Baker Street, he went on to become a busy studio musician, working with Pink Floyd, Abba, Marvin Gaye and others.

« on: October 05, 2014, 07:19:51 PM »

Heard a promo yesterday... I can't remember the "clues" (I think Live Aid was one), but
it's 1985.  Unless I'm wrong, or it's changed, or I slipped into a  different universe...

Elaine Stritch, Broadway’s Enduring Dame, Dies at 89

Elaine Stritch, the brassy, tart-tongued Broadway actress and singer who became a living emblem of show business durability and perhaps the leading interpreter of Stephen Sondheim’s wryly acrid musings on aging, died on Thursday at her home in Birmingham, Mich. She was 89.
