RIP. I saw him perform at HSBG a few times—he brought me to tears one year with his rendition of "O Death."

2. Peter Frampton, I Can’t Stand It No More

This would appear to be a bustout -- BOS from me, certainly an underrated single of the period.  Everything else is various shades of  FF/LN.

Wow, haven't heard this in years! I'm listening to the song now (Youtube).

Also, "Bob Mayo on keyboards.... Bob Mayo."

Thur 5/26/16: Car Tunes

"10 great songs about cars and driving!"

 6. Red Barchetta – Rush

FIFTH appearance by Rush in a Sound 10@10 in the last week-and-a-half.

Y A S S S S S ! !

The legendary Texas singer-songwriter, who wrote "LA Freeway" among other great songs, had been in declining health for some time.

@RGMike - where's the definitive list of online streams for AT40 again?

I don't know that there is one any more, at least not one that is updated regularly.  I may have a link on my home PC that I can dig up tonite. My personal standbys (all times Pacific):

102.7 KVWF (the Wolf) in Sonoma (Sat 9AM)
WLIX, Long Island (Sat 5PM)
Magic 98, Madison WI (Sat 7PM)
WHVO, Ohio (Sun 11AM)

UPDATE: the new morning guy is Matt Pinfield, onetime MTV host (120 Minutes) and deejay on Sirius/XM's Lithium channel. He also hosts a weekend show called "Flashback" which is syndicated by (wait for it) Cumulus Media.  He also worked with the new PD, Mr. Schock, at the NYC alternative rock station WRXP from 2008 to 2011. That station was a failure in the crowded NY market.   It's not clear whether he's going to be moving to SF or broadcast from the East Coast.

I've heard the Flashback show before. I think The Bone airs it? It shares sentiment with 10 at 10. Going back in time via music and info about the songs, etc.

Congrats to our own Darryl, who apparently won Joe Jackson tix on the Pop Quiz this morning. Woo Hoo!

That's awesome! Saw him at Hardly Strictly BG last year and it was a short set, but nice. That should be a good show....   (http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/joe-jackson/2015/golden-gate-park-san-francisco-ca-5bf43be0.html)

KFOG's 10@10 / Re: 30 March 2016: it's... 1986
« on: March 30, 2016, 10:55:29 AM »

We were doing real well thru song 6 and then it kinda went downhill...

I'm in agreement-ish, but I do like that Oingo Boingo song. Someone in GS remarked they never got the love for Oingo, and I agree.  I think their local appeal down in LA, where they caught the ears of some A&R dude, propelled them onto a national stage, but I'm mostly like "meh."

BOS TMBGs and Echo & The Bunymen

Blur "For Tomorrow" gets a BOS. I only stuck around for the Shadling stuff; musically this has been a set from Hell for me.

Blur is the BOS for me, and though the Dinosaur Jr. was a "tough listen" it stands out, too.

Big Head Todd?  Belly? 10k Maniacs? TFF?  Snooozefest-o-rama-ville-town

Not recognizing this but it's awful.

ETA: it's Dinosaur Jr.
(apparently intentionally) painful singing. Guitars aren't bad.

it was great, and BOSFRA. In a sea of oh-so predictable songs that we get all the freakin' time, this is a "good thing".

I missed the whole Garry Shandling phenomenon. Did I miss much?

Yes. brilliant guy -- both sitcoms were great, esp Larry Sanders.

never saw much of the Garry Shandling show.  Loved Luffed Lurved Larry Sanders. It was never a dead shark. I think they would still hold up if seen again.
