Hi, long time, no post (or lurk or anything, really),

So, I put together a 10 at 10! My first, in fact!  I used the Audacity app, which is pretty cool. I got almost all the way through before I learned I how to overlap and mix tracks.. which is AWESOME.  Anyway, give a listen if you are stuck at home or something... :)

KFOG's 10@10 / Re: 5 Jan 2018: Interesting news...

Well, well...

http://www.kfog.com/shows/1010-2/

Well, YEAH. It's a good great radio concept (and the reason we're here).

They're "smart" for bringing it back, all their prior corner cutting damage and clear-cutting efforts notwithstanding. I will adopt a wait and see attitude here.

TANC, my online radio stream is currently playing "(We Don't Need This) Fascist Groove Thang" by Heaven 17.

12/11:

On today’s edition of Soundwaves 10@10, we’ll hear the original version of a classic
David Bowie tune, the big hit that peaked at #4 and stayed there for seven weeks,
and the song that featured the return of Grace Slick.

Cat People w Giorgio Moroder?

Stream of Consciousness / Re: KFOG, But Not 10@10
« on: June 12, 2017, 07:30:02 PM »

I feel I should clarify my snark.  I couldn't identify any of the morning on-air staff to win a million
dollars.  Of course, I have no reason to listen in the morning.  In fact, I don't know any of the new
people.  My mourning period is over.  KFOG has been dead and buried to me for months.

I'm not a radio nerd, so I don't follow the reports.  But weren't KFOG's ratings drifting upward
slightly?  Or has that trend stopped and/or reversed?

Totally understand. Other than punching it up in the car occasionally just to see what song is playing, I don't listen. I get my news from Foghead FB groups.

Their ratings began to drop slowly after the purge; they bottomed out at around a 1.5 and then slowly rose back up. They've been fluctuating in the 1.9 -to- 2.1 area lately. (and presumably the average age of a listener is younger than it was a year ago) The new ratings not posted as of this writing.

rating are in. (from http://ratings.radio-online.com/cgi-bin/rol.exe/arb009)

KFOG is flat.

Bleah, not enjoying Eddie Izzard's massacre of "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite".

This is from the ""Across the Universe" soundtrack, a movie by Julie Taymor. That one grew on me.

You can figure out anything with google.

I won't spoil it since I cheated.

Ok, got it now.

How about a hint?

Cleveland rocks.

oooookay.. I smell what you are stepping in. I get the gist.

Speaking of Cleveland Rocking, saw a Drew Carey Show re-run last night where Drew, et al, put together a band and auditioned guitarists.  Joey Ramone, Slash, Lisa Loab, Jonny Lang, Matthew Sweet, Dave Mustaine, Dusty Hill, Rick Nielsen, Roy Clark and Michael Stanle all auditioned, but they were "too good" —  so they settled on Joe Walsh.

Later on, the orig James Gang performed at an area Ramada Inn. Loved it..!

Great job, Mike!  Loved it!

Rush released a record in 1975, so maybe you can hit that on your second go 'round?   ;D

Tue 8/23/16: Aug 1977

in reverse order:

Short People - Randy Newman
Give a Little Bit - Supertramp
Big Eyes (Live) - Cheap Trick
Parallels - Yes
Sheena Is a Punk Rocker - Ramones
Cold As Ice - Foreigner
Lust for Life - Iggy Pop
Blanket for a Sail - Harry Nilsson
Like a Hurricane - Neil Young
Telephone Line - Electric Light Orchestra

I don't  think I've ever heard the Nilsson rarity on the radio.

If "Big Eyes" was live, that means it's from "CT At Budokan" — from 1978.

Stream of Consciousness / Re: Local (and other) radio news
« on: July 17, 2016, 03:01:19 PM »
Weekend DJ Jaeger just announced his resignation from 107.7 The Bone (classic rock), a Cumulus station. He mentioned something about how the times are changing , the industry is changing, etc., how "a guy can't work part-time forever" and that "the new PD, Brian, is a good guy, a rocker through and through."

His sign-off song was "Freebird" (studio version) by Lynyrd Skynyrd.  He said he WANTED to play some David Lee Roth song as his final send-off, but since The Bone is doing "rock blocks" this weekend, he couldn't... the presumed reasoning being that DLR doesn't have enough playlist power to justify a whole ROCK BLOCK.  Maybe a two-fer, double-shot or twin-spin, but def not a rock-block (or lunch block, either, of course).

Corporate bastids!

Too bad, liked him...  Bon voyage.

Now I've seen everything: Rapping white guys appropriating Kelis' "Mikshake" for Verizon Prepaid. SMH.

It's a commercial?? It's on the radio a lot. Began hearing it a couple months (?) ago.  "My Prepaid is better than yours...."
