The intro to this "Eyes of the World" (?) reminded me of Style Council, "You're the Best Thing"

...it sounded like Archie Bell and the Drells, the first time I heard it, underneath the bleachers at Maples Pavillion in '73

"desperado" sounds quite fine right now...
I can no longer hear Desperado without thinking of Elaine from Seinfeld.

listening to today's WDRV reminded me of RT's first single, Man of the World.  Do any of you have it?  Bridge of Sighs would be nice too, but MOTW is what I'm lookin' for.

Thanks

Well, that was over a year ago, and no dice, so here's my next impossible dream:  does anyone have Harvey Mandel's "Cristo Redentor?"  There are some CD's available on eBay, but just thought I'd check in here first.  One of the women that sings with us on Sundays has the perfect voice for this, and I'd like to play it for her.  Harvey's version is not available on iTunes.

Thanks,
Geoff

Just caught up with this in Ent Weekly. He was 69.  He'll never do the Freddie again.
When I was in 9th grade, he was huge!

Netflix envelope been sittin' here for at least a month, finally checked it out.  Pretty darn good, I liked the relaxed pacing.  Way too relevant to current events though.

Boys of Summer
A great song but it doesn't strike me as a this-gets-me-pumped-when-i'm running/working out type tune.

Like I said earlier, sometimes it's a different vibe.  Actually, the song has a real insistent guitar figure that's quite propulsive.  Each to each's own I guess.

pretty much the whole El Rayo X album.  I put a bunch of electro-disco on at first, but it didn't work.  It seemed like music I like was more important than the beat.  For example, Desolation Row works just fine.

VBOS (Very Best of Set) Van - "Cypress Avenue"

Astral Weeks RULES!

I once got into an argument w/Dave about what Van's 2nd album was, and when I said it was Astral Weeks, he said something to the effect that it didn't count!  Perhaps he was just being flip, but it seemed odd to me at the time.

And yes, Astral Weeks does rule indeed!

sure, Berry (sp?) was dirty, and this new guy in LA is caught red-handed, but it still kind of sticks out like a sore thumb when all these other GOP fat cats plunder with invulnerability!
