Stream of Consciousness / The five people you meet in Costco
« on: March 30, 2005, 11:59:32 AM »
from my Costco magazine, a takeoff on the "five people you meet in heaven:"

#5: the warehouse manager says that regardless of what Mick Jagger sang, "You can't always get what you need ... but if you try Aisle Five, you just might find, you get what you want."

thus endeth the lesson.

listening to today's WDRV reminded me of RT's first single, Man of the World.  Do any of you have it?  Bridge of Sighs would be nice too, but MOTW is what I'm lookin' for.

Thanks

Stream of Consciousness / City of New Orleans
« on: February 12, 2005, 11:04:40 PM »
I was at a dinner/music soiree tonight at some friends' place, and one of my friends really likes John Denver, and brought a bunch of his songs.  About all I can really stomach is "Leaving on a Jet Plane," mainly because of Peter, Paul, and Mary, and give JD props since he wrote it.

We sang "City of New Orleans" written by Steve Goodman, but I feel Arlo Guthrie's version was more famous than John Denver's.  You guys know charts real well, can you help me find out the truth?

even though it makes no sense, in my head I always heard her sing "We'll both live in our lockers" instead of "We'll both live a lot longer"

You know, a long time ago, listening on low-fi AM radio, it was a lot easier to misunderstand what was being sung!

I just got these links in an email, and I don't normally forward this kind of thing, but this is too bizarre.  I could only watch the first one, because it's like watching a train wreck, so let me know if I should watch the others.

True story... this guy was a weathercaster at the Fox affiliate in Charlotte, NC until earlier this year when he had to check into drug rehab.  Click the link below and you will see why.

This is all TRUE. This stuff ACTUALLY AIRED on Fox TV in Charlotte.

Stream of Consciousness / Geoff's latest blog post
« on: January 24, 2005, 02:51:38 PM »
When I was down in Anaheim, a friend told me he had read my blog, I asked which one, and he just identified it as something 'depressing.'

That got me thinking, so even though it is still somewhat depressing, my latest blog is merely a Non-Sequitur comic strip:

no longer available

This makes me wonder, if we should have some sort of standalone category for announcements, that shouldn't probably get buried as quickly as other items in the 'stream of consciousness' area.

if you want to comment on the cartoon, go here:

Stream of Consciousness / report from Anaheim
« on: January 23, 2005, 06:53:31 AM »
Not with a bang, but a whimper.

I discovered last night that I've been walking on a opened blister on my big toe.  I have this nerve condition that masks pain, but it manifests itself elsewhere.  I still have to get a bass out of the convention center and drive home today.

So, here's a picture of me and Bob Weir.

Most of the long lines for autographs were for people like this:

This is the guitarist from Slayer.  Lots of metalheads/punkers/thrashers down here.

Wish me luck, it's going to be a long day.

Stream of Consciousness / Beej asked for avatars
« on: January 21, 2005, 10:15:53 AM »
I poked around backstage, and enabled avatars.  It says there are some common ones to choose, and you can point to one elsewhere, and it says you can upload one.  I haven't tested all these possibilities yet.

Also clicked a button that says 'enable html'

Stream of Consciousness / Almost Cut My Hair on DDT
« on: January 21, 2005, 08:48:02 AM »
down here at the NAMM show, there are lots of people my age who still walk around with the big hair, or the long hair from their rock band days, only now they're probably working in some low class guitar shop in Pacoima!

KFOG's 10@10 / One way to do this
« on: January 18, 2005, 10:10:53 PM »
On this level, you could choose to label the subject today's date, or the song that's playing.  The replies get nested down one layer.

Oh well, just play  with it, see how it works. Also, it's a lot easier to navigate if you register, so the message board knows which messages are new next time.  I can also disable direct access to email addresses, so people can send you email, but they don't know your address.

All good things in all good time.

oh yeah, lots of silly smilies and such.
